Arrangements are in place to ensure that the health care needs of the residents are satisfactorily met. All residents are registered with a local General Practitioner. Once a week a General Practitioner visits the home to hold a clinic. The doctor visits residents in their own rooms to ensure privacy.
For actual nursing care a District Nurse visits regularly, and will visit on a daily basis if necessary for example where insulin is required to be administered.
The chiropodist visits every six weeks and will visit to see new residents if they have a chiropody need. For hearing problems we refer to our General Practitioner to make the necessary appointments. We use Visioncall for sight tests and dispensing of spectacles. This service provider will engrave the glass of spectacles with the resident’s name, thus ensuring correct usage.
Computerised care plans are in place for all the residents in the home which are compiled with input from the resident and relatives whenever possible. Daily reports are recorded regarding care received together with events and activities. The carer in charge reviews all care reports at the end of each shift. The Manager undertakes a review of all care plans on a regular basis so that any amendments or changes can be effected.
